Biography
Stephanie Syjuco is known for her investigative, research-based practice encompassing photography, sculpture, and installation. Her work examines economies and empire, focusing on racialized narratives of American history and citizenship. She has shifted her focus to exploring Filipino history-building and myth-making in their newfound independence. Her practice involves critiquing American colonial anthropology in the Philippines and investigating historical museum collections and newspaper archives.
